My right side had some play from side to side due to a bad inner tie rod, so i decided to. But when it’s above 20ish mph it has no noise. It ONLY happens at low speeds and in parking lots. I think they just want the customers to deal with it. My issue is that it creaks just like a rusty door hinge when you turn the wheel. Moral of the story: Make sure you push the dealers to get these annoying problems fixed. I left the dealer and have not had any problems since. After the fix was done he told me that the reason that my RTL was outside of the TSB Vin #'s is that the factory had put part of the wool felt that is mentioned in the TSB, but not all of it. I told the service advisor that I will bring it back everyday until it is fixed. Place a large prybar (think 3 ft crowbar) under the tire and rapidly pry the tire up. I bought a new lower ball joint part and planning to do the switch (is it hard to install?), but i just wanted to see if anyone has other recommendations or advice they can give me.I recently took in my RTL for a few different annoying noises, one being the steering wheel creak. So has anyone has experience with this lower ball joint issue? or any advice? what he thought it was and he said it could be the Lower Ball joint or upper arm failing. You can also raise the van and slide the dust boot down to be able to get some lubricant at the mount (to see if and how if effects the noise) Yes bearings are known issue on these vans. I originally thought it was my sway bar bushings.i re-lubbed them, made sure i didn't over torque the bushing bolts, but the noise still persisted. If you get that same creak when slowly rolling over bumps, spray some lube on the strut bumpers. I 'flushed' the power steerimg fluid using a turkey baster. If this dose not solve the problem then check the power stearing fluid & top off if needed, then right after you do this, start the van and have some one you trust turn the stearing wheel hard left and hard right for 2 min., and you get under the front of the van and look for a power steering fluid leak, if you find a leak replace leaking line or part. I had a rubbing sound coming from somewhere around the steering column when i bought the truck.
